An Amazonian legend tells of an Indian from the nomadic Macuxi tribe who fell in love with a girl from his village. They married and were very happy, until she became ill and paralyzed. As a proof of his love, he decided to create a huge sling and carry it wherever he went, up and down mountains. One day, he noticed that his beloved's weight had increased. Upon checking, he saw that she was dead. With no reason to continue his journey, he dug a grave and buried himself next to her lifeless body. In the place where the couple's bodies lay, an unknown plant with enormous triangular green leaves grew, which was named Tamba-Tajá.
