Week two of my infamous one-genre-a-week series is here, and this time I’m diving into something relatively new to me. While it’s not technically a genre, I’m grouping it as one to make it easier to share — both for myself and for anyone else just getting into it.

Listening to Canções Praieiras makes me feel like I’m lounging on one of Brazil’s many beautiful beaches, sipping a caipirinha and snacking on queijo coalho… Maybe it’s because I miss the beach, or maybe it’s because the album’s title literally means “beach songs” in Portuguese. Either way, it’s one you should put on and daydream to.
